Online Lessons

Do online lessons work? (Yes!) What should you expect?

Just like most teachers around the globe, I had to move my entire teaching studio online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. I already had some experience with online guitar lessons and was able to transition quite smoothly, but after a few weeks of teaching 100% of my classes online I must say I’m quite happy with the results.

I’m using a licensed zoom account for my lessons. I have a setup with two HD cameras, a broadcasting mic, a midi controller, and even a green screen! That means that my students are able to hear me well and see what I’m doing from two different angles. Zoom has a screen and audio sharing tool that allows me to show the student my music on the screen as I annotate on it in real time and/or share my computer audio.

What equipment do you need?

All you need is a computer or mobile device with a working camera and microphone and you are all set! To make the experience even better, I highly suggest using headphones. Just like with all video calls, the stronger the connection the better the quality, so a strong internet connection is needed.
